Pocket penetrometer can be useful tool to quantify the evaporation rate from calcareous soil and help the user in decision of irrigation scheduling espicially, tor vegetable crops grown in greenhouses. The multiple linear equations showed signifICant correlation between fenettation resistance values (PR), ranging between zero and 4.5 Kg. em' , and evaporation, that equal soil moisture depletion (SMD), volumetric moisture content (9y), calcium carbonate, wet bulk density and soil fractions.
