Abstract
Two field experiments were carried out on calcareous soils at Maryut
experimental station. Desert Research Center during 2000 and 2001 seasons, to
study the effect of genetic variability and some clfferent foliar application treatments
on growth traits, yield, yield components of some soybean (GLYCINE MAX L),
cultivars . A split plot design with three replicatiOns was used. The main plots were
devoted at random to four spray-foliar application treatments, Le. ZnS040.1%,
MnS04 1.0%, FeS040.5% and tap water as control and four soybean cultivars, I.e.,
CIar1c, Crawford, Giza 35 and Giza 21 In the sub plots. Also subunits compostion of
the two soybean seed major storage proteins (B-conglycinin (7S) and glycinin(11S»
as well as the other oocharacterized subunits were studied for the 4 different cultivar.
The obtained results could be summarized as follows: Generally. foliar application treatments may correct the metabolic disturbance under stress condition of Maryut Agric. Research Station (calcareous aifd saline SOil). Spray foliar applications by ZnS040.1%, MnS041.0%, and FeSQ4 0.5% led to improve growth parameters, yield, yield components and nutritious value through increasing intensities of B-conglycinln and glycinin. of soybean cultivars •• compared with the control at 75 days (SAS) and harvesting date. Foliar application of ZnSO. 0.1 % autpaUed the other spray treatments for increasing all studied
.,.,-.meters of soybean ~ under Invesllgltion. Genetic variability were detected dearty among the low soybean cultivars In growth traltJ, yield , yield components and seed storage protein subunits. Giza 21 c:uIIivIf'S exhibited a slgnltc:.nt higher vaIu •• and considered the highly yielding abilly and rWitIve value under c:aIcIreout sol of Matyout foIowed by Giza 35, CI'8Wford and Clarck descendingIy. Also ZnSO. 0.1%, combined with Giza21 cultivat interaction adIieWd the best tratment.
